Easiest way to get into this is by coming on the hoop using the side mount (see How to Get up on the Hoop). When your hands and both legs are on the hoop in side mount, extend the front leg and hook the foot on the side bar in front of you. Extend the back leg and hook the foot on the back side bar. Raise your hips towards the hoop as much as possible. Now the tension between the feet and calves pressing into the hoop should be enough to hold you in. Eventually you can let go with one arm, and then the other.
